I love hummus so much that I could eat it everyday. I eat it with carrots and celery sticks, spreaded on homemade bread, as a dressing for my salads or even alone. It is delicious, easy to make and a really healthy source of proteins. Seems perfect, right?
Well, the only problem with hummus is that people normally buy it ready-to-eat as it is cheap and easy when you see it at the supermarket. As most of the prepared meals you can buy, they have added ingredients that are not desirable like sugar, preservatives, salt and refined oils, so I recommend you to make your own hummus at home.
After trying several recipes from my favorite cooking blogs and books, I believe I have found the best hummus recipe ever! I have adjusted the ingredients and quantities until I’ve got the most delicious hummus and now I am enjoying it every day. Here is the recipe for you to try it:
- 1 tin of cooked chickpeas (400gr approx)
- 3 tbspoons water (I use the water that comes with the chickpeas for more flavor)
- 2 tbspoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbspoon tahini
- 1 small lime (1/2 big lime or lemon)
- 1/2 garlic clove
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- salt to taste
To make the hummus, simply blend all the ingredients together in a blender or food processor until smooth and enjoy!
